The Strategic Review of Charges Consultation: Impacts on Land Spreading

March 29, 2018

No, it’s not an April Fools!

The EA’s new Charging Scheme for Environmental Permitting has been approved and is due to launch this Sunday 1st April 2018.

The new scheme will see a significant increase in EA fees for land spreading, with mobile plant deployments costing over £1700 per application. A 120% increase from 2017 rates.

There was an overwhelming response against the increases from the land spreading community, including farmers, waste producers and recyclers. New costs will detrimentally impact recycling of all wastes and by-products that have a value to our soils, and those materials applied at low application rates and facilities producing small outputs will be the most affected.

The full consultation response from the EA can be found here.
