Mike has considerable experience in the “waste” recycling business. Since leaving school at 17 he has worked for leading edge agricultural recycling companies. Operating UK wide, he has been involved in recycling materials as diverse as scallop shells to paper crumble. Mike has profitably grown all the recycling businesses he has managed and working with some of the UK’s most knowledgeable technical and operational experts, he has pioneered the recycling of hundreds of thousands of tonnes of materials that were previously dumped at sea, or more latterly landfilled. Mike has also travelled overseas giving advice on recycling industrial by-products to land and acted as a consultee on regulatory changes in the UK.
Jon is based at our Newent office and is responsible for 4R Group’s activities in the south of England and Wales. With over 20 years’ experience of recycling all manner of by-products, he is extremely knowledgeable of the waste industry and brings a determination to find recycling solutions for difficult materials to give clients viable choices. With a professional & experienced approach, he is an excellent manager of customer relationships and strives for complete customer satisfaction which he continually demonstrates through account management to provide a top quality service.
Paul is a Soil Scientist with experience undertaking research and strategic consultancy work for government departments (e.g. Defra, Environment Agency), local authorities and corporate clients and heads up the Consultancy team within the 4R Group. Paul is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) with expertise covering all aspects of soils and the wider environment, with a particular expertise concerning treating and recycling organic 'waste' materials (e.g. biosolids, paper crumble, biowaste, compost, MBT outputs etc.) to land. He and his experienced team of qualified practitioners are able to offer a full range of consultancy services related to soils and environmental science, ’waste‘ treatment and 'waste' recycling to land.
John Clarke FCCA joined 4R Group as Financial Director. He has over 30 years of experience since qualifying in industries as diverse as brewing, engineering, printing supplies and stone fabrication. He has specialised in helping dynamic private companies to develop commercial systems and financial controls as well as company secretarial, administrative and HR management.
Paul has a BSc in Soil Science and MSc in Environmental Microbiology. Since graduating in 2000 he spent three years on an academic research programme titled “The beneficial use of green waste compost in arable crop production”. At the time this now common place activity was novel in the UK! He then went on to assist in the establishment and management of a successful open air windrow composting facility with all products being used in the horticultural marketplace. Prior to joining 4R Group in 2014 he was the Organics Manager for a large PFI funded waste management company producing and marketing both mixed waste composts and PAS 100 compost. Paul has a vast amount of experience and knowledge across the waste management, horticultural and land restoration sectors.
Mark has an MBA from Aston University and holds a number of COTC awards. He has significant and senior operational experience within the resource management sector, particularly within the Energy from Waste (EfW), Hazardous Waste Landfill and Hazardous Soil Treatment sectors. He is a waste management professional with excellent communication skills and expertise in Commercial, Operational, Contract and People Management, capable of developing a strategy, securing the necessary buy-in and then leading the implementation to ensure financial success. He fully understands the complexities of the permitting regime and is experienced in delivering successful, effective and compliant business & commercial improvements. He has experience of crisis management, within the sector, representing his employer on National TV news, during the Foot & Mouth crisis and working with the military during the east coast flooding in 2013. Key successes, to date, include delivering performance improvements to waste incineration efficiency, developing and operating mono landfill cells for hazardous waste, developing hazardous soil treatment facilities and forging successful joint ventures to divert waste and exploit waste market opportunities.
Graham joined the group as Operations Manager in July 2006. He gained an HND in Agriculture followed by 17 years practical experience in large scale intensive arable farm management and a further 11 years’ experience within waste management, recycling industrial by-products to agriculture and to industrial “brown field sites” and former colliery workings. Recently Graham has also project managed removal of silts from settlement ponds on power station sites. His extensive knowledge of the recycling industry includes Waste analysis and interpretation; Transport and recycling machinery management; Biosolids application and utilisation; Pollution risk assessment; Health & Safety risk assessment; Farmer/site owner liaison and Sub contractor sourcing and management. Graham is a Member of Basis Professional Register (MBPR) and holds Fertiliser Advisors Certification & Training Scheme (FACTS), IOSH Managing Safely and WAMITAB qualifications.
Ian has over 32 years’ experience of working and managing within the agricultural related industry which includes 17 years within waste management and recycling operations. Ian manages the recycling operations for multiple 4R Group contracts that cover a wide range of industrial liquid and solid waste materials recycled to agriculture land. He has an in depth knowledge and practical experience of recycling and treatment processes that include all aspects of landspreading of liquids and solids; Mobile Plant Licensed Facilities; In Vessel and Open Windrow Composting; Anaerobic Digestion; Animal Feed and Bedding. Ian has undergone a huge amount of Agricultural Training Board and waste management training and holds qualifications for IOSH Managing Safety, NVQ Supervisory Management, WAMITAB, Land Management and Soil Science.
Rick has worked in waste management since 1996 after completing a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health and developing an interest and passion for the waste industry. He has a vast amount of experience in different sectors of waste management including contract management – collection of domestic and commercial waste; implementation of new recycling services – organic waste collections and managing operations on hazardous and non-hazardous waste facilities (landfill, transfer stations, Materials Recycling Facilities and composting and sourcing markets for end materials. Rick holds qualifications in CoTC, CPC National Freight, NEBOSH and is an affiliated member of CIWM. He is responsible for managing the team in the south and overseeing all aspects of contract delivery.
Dave was a dairy farmer before branching out into the waste management industry nearly 15 years ago. He was 4R Group’s Operations Manager for the South between February 2008 and February 2016 and is now working as Contract Development Manager for his local region whilst also helping to run recycling operations in the area. Dave is a member of several agricultural societies and organisations some of which he is a past chairman, this along with his practical agricultural experience makes him ideally suited to liaise with farmers, contractors, waste producers and the Environment Agency/ NRW. Dave is a Member of Basis Professional Register (MBPR) and holds Fertiliser Advisors Certification & Training Scheme (FACTS) and WAMITAB qualifications.
Becky is a specialist in the market development and recycling of mixed waste organics and has spent 10 years in the organics recycling sector recovering a range of materials to land. She is a Chartered Scientist and specialises in contaminated land, has developed the company’s consultancy portfolio for planning support services and currently manages the company’s analytical requirements. Becky graduated with a PhD from the University of Reading in 2010 after completing her doctoral thesis on the market development of waste-derived organics. She is a FACTS qualified advisor, a member of the BASIS Professional Register and a professional member of the IPSS. Since the start of her career, Becky has been involved in a multitude of waste and land regeneration projects and has a proven track record in Environmental Permitting and Planning.
Kevin has 18 years’ experience as an environmental consultant with expertise in the recycling of organic materials to agricultural land and restoration sites. Kevin joined 4R Environmental Consultants in October 2011 and currently manages a range of recycling projects with varying material streams and land end use. He operates under wide and diverse situations and retains compliance with all applicable regulations. He has a BSc in Agriculture and is WAMITAB & FACTS qualified.
Rob has been working in the industry since 2008, joining 4R Group in 2010. Since then he has gone on to contract manage the recycling of various by-products & wastes to agriculture and restoration throughout the South of England & Wales building relationships with producers, farmers and regulatory bodies across a large area. This experience has allowed Rob more recently to focus on developing both new & existing work within the company. Rob is a Member of Basis Professional Register (MBPR) and holds Fertiliser Advisors Certification & Training Scheme (FACTS) and WAMITAB qualifications.
Diane has almost 25 years’ experience of working in a very busy office environment and joined 4R Group in April 2007. She originally led the Administration team in co-ordinating the activities that facilitate the smooth running of the company but as the business evolved, so did her role and she is now PA to the Directors and is the company’s HR Manager.
Richard joined 4R Group in September 2008 and is now responsible for co-ordinating and auditing the procedures and processes of 4R Group’s quality (ISO 9001:2008), health and safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) and environmental (ISO 14001:2004) management systems. Richard is also involved in developing and initiating a database for recording 4R Group’s land spreading deployment, delivery and spreading information as well as contributing to both consultancy and operational projects. Richard combines a practical agricultural background with more than 20 years’ experience working as a soil and plant science research scientist. Specialising in entomology, he has been in charge of a range of field and glasshouse trials, including bioassays. Richard has been involved in the waste industry for over 15 years, recycling various by-products to restoration sites and agricultural land. He has also supervised bio-aerosol monitoring at a number of locations as well as extensive experience in environmental assessment and pollution remediation at aircraft crash sites.
Dawn joined 4R Group in February 2014 and brings over 10 years’ environmental industry experience in sales and marketing with expertise in the delivery of all internal and external communications including website, social media, brand compliance, sales & marketing literature, PR, corporate event preparation and CRM. Dawn is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has completed the Chartered CPD Programme since 2010 to demonstrate ongoing development to improving knowledge and skills within the marketing profession.
Lorna joined 4R Group in September 2010 and has over 8 years’ office experience. She is responsible for managing the administration team to operate the busy office efficiently. Lorna provides administration and accounting support to the sales, technical consultancy and operational teams as well as assisting the Financial Director. Her organisational skills and methodical approach ensures paperwork and tasks are completed accurately and to specified deadlines.
