Recently 4R Group at our Newent office received 3 separate groups of year 9 students from Newent Community School.
The year group are conducting a project on the types of businesses which are found within the town and the qualifications they look for in potential employees.
Mark Johnson, Land Restoration Manager – South gave a short presentation on the 4R Group, outlining the company history and specialist capabilities. He outlined how European legislation was driving change in the UK, with respect to the need to reduce disposal and increase recycling and reuse.
The students were particularly interested in the recycling of Biosolids, how much food waste the UK throws away every day and how long it took a spoil tip to turn green!
The students asked a wide range of questions including the potential impact of Brexit on the business, staff salaries, hours of work, Health & Safety on site and the types of qualifications required to join the business.
