We are delighted to announce that our restoration work at the former Rossington Colliery has won an award for ‘Best Re-Use of Materials’ at the 2021 Brownfield Briefing Awards.

October 18, 2021

The virtual Awards, run by Environmental Analyst UK took place on the 14th October, with winners announced across 15 categories.

Our restoration work turns former quarries, open case mines, landfills and other heavily disturbed sites into flourishing habitats and green spaces. Our philosophy has always been to utilise whatever we can on-site, including spoil, discard and overburden from quarrying and mining and turn it back into soil capable of supporting wildflowers, grassland and woodlands.

We restored over 60ha at Rossington, making use of the colliery spoil left on site and turning it from grey to green, supporting grass and wildflower species and over 17,000 native trees.

We have restored many sites over the years and our ‘soil from spoil’ method has been proven again and again. We only use recycled and sustainable sources of organic matter and vital plant nutrients and our in-house team of FACTS qualified professionals and soil scientists carefully balance inputs to create the right environment.

Thank you to Environmental Analyst UK and congratulations to all the other finalists and winners!
