We are looking to recruit for the new position of Principal Environmental Consultant to lead and
develop our consultancy services. This exciting role will oversee our technical operations nationally
and the successful candidate can be based at either our Newent (Gloucestershire) or Knottingley
(Yorkshire) offices.

 

Established in 2006, our core business activities are environmental consultancy (4R Environmental
Consultants), industry by-product recycling (4R Recycling) and farm advisory services (4R
Reassurance). Our client base ranges from small-scale farmers to public bodies and multi-national
industrial corporations.

 

This strategic role requires a high level of business development to keep 4R Environmental Consultants
at the forefront of this niche industry and also technical leadership for all activities within the 4R
Group. The successful applicant will work closely with internal team members, external clients and
environmental regulators.

 

The role will inevitably be varied and challenging, but by being involved in ground-breaking and
industry firsts, remarkably rewarding.
The successful candidate will be able to confidently adapt their current skillset to take on new and
rewarding challenges.

Key Requirements

• Degree level qualification in geo-environmental, agricultural, soil or plant sciences
• A strong understanding of general principles of soil science and soil (inorganic and organic)
chemistry
• Minimum of five years practical experience
• Understanding of the principles of crop nutrition
• Strong understanding of Environmental Permitting regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Desirable qualities

• Qualified to PhD or M. Level
• Member of Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) or Chartered with relevant
body (C.Env/C.Sci/C.Chem)
• FACTS qualified
• Understanding of the Bespoke Permitting regime (site based and land-spreading) and the
process of Rapid Evidence Assessment
• Experience in the management and delivery of glasshouse/agricultural field trials/ecotoxicology assessments at a range of scales
• Capable in the rigorous classification and chemical assessment of materials and by-products
in line with current waste classification guidance (WM3). Experience of undertaking End of
Waste (EoW) assessments would be advantageous.
• Working knowledge of the principles of land restoration
• Experience of the assessment of contaminated land and the management of site
remediation activities including the treatment of groundwaters and soils
• Experience in aspects of business development
